Ingredients

• FunCakes Mix for Cupcakes 500 g
• FunCakes Mix for Buttercream 250 g
• FunCakes Food Colour Gel Aqua

• 5 eggs
• 250 ml water
• 250 + 300 g unsalted butter

Step 1: Bake the cupcakes

Preheat the oven to 180°C (hot-air oven 160°C). Process the ingredients at room temperature. Then make 500 g of the FunCakes Baking Mix for Cupcakes with 250 g butter and 5 eggs as indicated on the package.

Then divide an even number of baking cups and mini baking cups between the Wilton Muffin and the Wilton Mini Muffin pan. Spoon the batter into the baking cups with an (ice cream) spoon or two spoons until about halfway up. Then bake the cupcakes in the oven for about 18-20 minutes. Bake the mini cupcakes in about 12-15 minutes. Let them cool well in the baking tin after baking.

Step 2: Make the buttercream

Mix 250 g FunCakes Mix for Buttercream with 250 ml water (room temperature). Beat the mixture with a whisk and leave this mixture to set for at least an hour at room temperature.

Then beat 300 g unsalted (creamed) butter for about 5 minutes and add the mixture to the butter in batches, mixing completely each time before adding the next part. Mix through until smooth (approx. 10 minutes).

Step 3: Colour the buttercream

Divide the buttercream into four bowls and colour the buttercream in different shades of pink and blue with the FunCakes Edible Colouring Gel.

Step 4: Build up the Cartoon Cupcake

Put the pink buttercream in a FunCakes piping bag with Wilton's nozzle #1A. Then take a cupcake and squirt a little buttercream on the cupcake so that the mini cupcake sticks. Remove the mini cupcake from the baking cup and place the mini cupcake upside down on the cupcake. Pipe a swirl around the mini cupcake with a tuft on top. Then repeat the steps with the other colours. Place the cupcakes in the freezer for 15 minutes for the buttercream to harden.

Step 5: Decorate the cupcakes with black lines

Once the buttercream has stiffened, remove the cupcakes from the freezer. Then use the Sugarflair Edible Paint Matt Black to make lines on the buttercream with a brush for a Cartoon effect.

Tip: Also great fun to add the FunCakes Sugar Decoration Eyes for a playful effect!
