If you do not store the macarons in the fridge, they will keep for a maximum of one day. It is important to keep the macarons in a storage box in your pantry or on the kitchen counter. Make sure not to keep them in direct sunlight. Otherwise, the macarons will get too hot and the filling may spill out. Store the macarons in the fridge if the ambient temperature is too warm. Want to keep them longer? Then you can store the macarons in the fridge or in the freezer.
Storing macarons in the fridge
Macarons will keep in the fridge for up to a week, store them in a sealed container that is airtight. Note that the longer you store them, the softer the biscuits will become. Remove the macarons from the fridge half an hour before serving to allow them to come to room temperature. They taste best that way! Would you like to keep the macaroons even longer? Then you can also freeze them.
Freezing macarons
Macarons will stay good for up to 3 months if you freeze them in an airtight sealed container. The macarons will retain its flavour and texture well in the freezer. The easy part about freezing is that the macarons are defrosted within half an hour! Remove the quantity you need from the tray and thaw them. Very easy if you have unexpected visitors and you want to put something tasty on the table.
It is important to store the Macarons in a container that is airtight, in order to have the tastiest Macarons and keep them as long as possible! A word to the wise:
- Macarons will keep for up to a day outside the fridge
- Macaroons will keep for up to a week in the fridge
- Macaroons will keep for up to 3 months in the freezer
