Organising your own high tea

Are you organising a high tea at home? After reading this blog, your high tea with homemade snacks is guaranteed to be a success! Scones are of course a staple of a classic high tea, but cheesecakes and blondies are also delicacies that deserve a place at your home-made high tea. In this blog you'll find delicious 'from scratch' recipes to make your high tea complete!

Read more below!

Scones

Your high tea would not be complete without scones! But what exactly are scones? Scones are originally Scottish buns that you eat with clotted cream and jam. For these buns, baking powder is used instead of yeast. You can serve the scones cold, but preferably lukewarm. Allow the scones to cool briefly on a cooling grid before serving. Besides scones, you can of course also serve other sandwiches to accompany your high tea. Take a look at our recipe page for more sweet or savoury sandwiches you can serve.

Bitter biscuits

Bitter biscuits are biscuits that are ideal for high tea. The ingredients of these biscuits are FunCakes almond flour, sugar and egg white and they are super fun to make yourself! Especially because you can decorate them as you like with for example a dollop of buttercream by using the FunCakes mix for buttercream. You can then pipe it on using FunCakes decorating bags. Are there any macaroons left over after the high tea? Then use them to make a delicious bitter biscuits pudding. This way the bitter biscuits don't get old and you can still use the leftover biscuits.

Cheesecake

You never get tired of a cheesecake. That's why there are so many kinds of cheesecakes! From a no bake cheesecake to a lemon cheesecake that has to go in the oven. The cheesecake is ideal for high tea because there are so many varieties that you can always find something you like. The nice thing is to garnish the cheesecake with orange or lime zest. This way your homemade high tea will not only taste great but it will also look beautiful!

Blondies

Blondies: they look like brownies, but taste different. With the FunCakes baking mix you can easily make your own cake blondie that is soft and has a delicious vanilla taste. Blondies are also easy to make from scratch! The button below will take you to a delicious white chocolate blondie recipe! Want to go a step further? Then add some fruit to the batter, like raspberries for example. This way you can give it your own twist and make the blondie just the way you like it. You can also decorate the blondie by making a nice drizzle over it with, for example, Candy melts from Wilton.

Get to work…

By adding the above delicacies to your homemade high tea, you already have a beautiful table full of food that your guests are sure to enjoy. Serve your snacks in a playful way by putting different cake stands on the table with your snacks on them. Of course you can add or substitute something else to make the high tea even more your own. You can also add some savoury snacks such as delicious sandwiches or mini quiches in muffin form. Take a look at our recipe page for even more inspiration to make your organised high tea a success. Enjoy!
